Salt Lakes

Torrevieja is surrounded by two large natural saltwater lagoons, which form the well-known “Salterns of Torrevieja”. It is situated on the Costa Blanca, approximately one hours drive South from Benidorm and 40 minutes from Alicante airport.

The local area, presents a fine combination of tourist attractions and commercial activity from its salt flats. The local La Mata y Torrevieja Lagoon nature park, is a unique area in which the age-old tradition of salt mining has successfully been combined with concerns for the conservation of local marshlands and nesting sites for migratory birds.

Torrevieja

A little south of Alicante you will find the old fishing town of Torrevieja. Among it’s welcoming and attractive features are the many magnificent white beaches, squares, walks, parks, gardens, and natural beauty spots.

An all-year round town, Torrevieja has it’s own harbour and small fishing fleet, and because it is not a resort in the true sense of the word, it does not cater for the package holiday industry. However there are excellent facilities in the town and surrounding areas - not least the countless superb restaurants, tapas bars, and shops. Near to the marina and port are superb fish restaurants specialising in catch of the day. There is also a wonderful indoor market which offers a tremendous selection of fish, fruit, meat and vegetables throughout the year.

There are beautiful fountains, plazas and historic churches and promenades throughout the town to provide cultural interest. The wooden benches and lighting along the coastline and man-made lagoons for swimming in the summer months makes the promenade a very beautiful spot.

A causeway between the sea and the harbour has proved immensely popular with residents and visitors alike providing a fantastic stroll with an uninterrupted view of the sea. Disabled visitors have been well catered for also, with specially constructed ramps and platforms.

Guardama

Guardamar sits at the mouth of the river Segura and offers several miles of well equipped, popular beaches set against a backdrop of palm groves planted on the dunes. Between the town and the beach is the enormous “Queen Sofia” park, thick with trees and plants where visitors can enjoy cool, refreshing strolls even on the hottest of days. To beautify the natural surroundings, ponds, botanical tours and samples of aquatic fauna have been added. Guardamar is a typically Spanish town with a beautiful marina and is well known for it’s seafood cuisine. It is a traditionally Spanish town with a small growing Ex-pat community it's beaches are fantastic, during the summer months it is a hotspot for the Spanish.

The beautiful beach at Guardamar is only minutes away as well as the prestigious La Finca golf course.

Quesada

It is situated south of Valencia and Alicante, slightly inland just 15 minutes walk from the picturesque market town of Rojales, only 7km from Guardamar, and opposite the two beautiful natural salt lagoons. Quesada also has its own Aqua park, open from June to September, providing hours of entertainment for the children and adults alike. If you fancy something slightly less energetic, why not partake in a game of bowls at the social club.

Within Quesada is “El Recorral”, a protected natural park.
